There is a huge opportunity right now for you to make bucket loads of cash, due to a new EU law, many businesses in the UK and throughout the EU are running websites that are not in compliance. In May 2011 a European Union law was passed stating that websites that leave nonessential cookies on visitors devices have to alert the visitor and get acceptance from them. This law applies to both individuals and businesses based in the EU regardless of the nationality of their website's visitors or the location of their web host. It is not enough to simply update your website's terms and conditions or privacy policy. The deadline to comply with the new EU cookie law is 26th May 2012. Failure to do so means website owners can be fined up to £500,000.

What are 'non-essential cookies'?

Cookie Law

Non-essential cookies are basically those which aren't required for the website to function. For example, if cookies are needed for a customer to check out and buy products, that is considered an essential cookie. Examples of non-essential cookies include (but aren't limited to) those from analytics, advertising and affiliate networks such as Google Analytics, Google Adsense, and all affiliate programs. The vast majority of websites drop non-essential cookies.

The Rise of Social Networks

APSense founders understand that Social Networks have become the driving force behind the future of the internet. Along with websites like Facebook, MySpace, Linkedin and Blogger APSense has provided a home for people to connect with each other. Many businesses, both large and small have recognized the power of these social networks and are increasingly using them in their marketing strategies. Experts forecast that more of these businesses will take advantage of this growth. Combine together the rise of social networks and the promise of growth for many different types of business, APSense was born and grew to accommodate Business Social Networking.

APSense in a Nutshell

APSense is a business social network where people come together

The news just keeps getting worse for LinkedIn. The social network for work professionals is being sued for $5 million after more than 6 million of its users’ passwords were leaked online earlier this month.

Below, I have reproduced an article I posted here at APSense some time ago on how to assess a new opportunity to see if it is a genuine business. I thought it might benefit members here.

Those of us a little longer in the tooth to recall the pre-internet home-business scene will recall with remorse 'chain letters' and how many unscrupulous operators would disguise them. They would promote a course on....promoting the course. Sadly, the same now happen online, at a worrying degree.

My number one step from those outlined below is to take away the recruiting factor from an opportunity and then see if it would still stand up. i.e. Is there a service or product that would still sell without the enticement of a business opportunity? Enjoy...

With so many new opportunities popping up on a daily basis, it is vital that we approach new presentations with a calm and critical perspective before we allow ourselves to be manipulated by the emotive techniques often used to draw us in.

The following are a few indicators I look out for before I join a new program. My time is as valuable, if not more so, than the fairly low price of many programs, so even where a program presented is free to join, I still spend some time in evaluation. It is too easy to signup for a large number of free programs that are

Large businesses have been realizing the effectiveness of creating a brand for a long time.  There is a common misconception about the usefulness of building a brand for a small business.   This misconception has been perpetuated by the expensiveness of the marketing used to aid in the building of a brand.  With the Internet, creating a brand for your small business can be done in a relatively inexpensive way.

A brand is something that your customers can identify your business by and tell their friends about.  A successful attempt to create a brand will make all your future marketing attempts much easier.  A perfect example of a great brand is Band-Aid.  Now the Band-Aid brand is synonymous with the product.

Online Applications of Creating a Brand

While brand names used to be associated primarily with brick and mortar companies, they have been adopted by the online community.  The most prevalent example of an internet brand name would be Google. You don’t browse the web anymore, you Google it.  Your branding efforts probably won’t be nearly as successful as Google’s were, but they will increase the effectiveness of your marketing efforts.
