Customs ,cultures and belief of people around the world has influenced on most of their festivals and celebration. We may called some of the celebration are bizarrea or weird but those are common phenomenon in which the festival is an age old tradition. no matter how people want to define but celebration and festivals brings colours to the community. Festival are celebrated with great enthusiasm and unite people together to share their joy and sorrow in their own special moment.
Malaysia
Thaipusam is a Hindu festival celebrated on the full moon in the hindu calendar which is depending on the alignment of the sun, moon and planets. Usually it is held in the last week of January or the beginning of February.
Thaipusam is a time for Hindus of all castes and cultures to say thank you and show their appreciation to one of their Gods, Lord Murugan. It marks the victory of the God over demons and is a time of penance and consecration to the God, usually involving self-mortification in a test of mind over pain. This festival is celebrated in India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Singapore, South Africa, and Mauritius.
Afghanistan
The day of Ashurra is a day of mourning for the martyrdom of Hussain ibn Ali, the grandson of Islamic Prophet Muhammad in the battle of Karbala. It is celebrated by Shia Moslem around the world mainly in Bahrain, Afghanistan, India, Iran and Iraq on the 10th day of Muharram in Islamic calendar. This commemoration day has become a national holiday in some countries that has most etnic and religous communities of Shia Moslem.
Japan
Japanese Fertility Festival is celebrated on 15th March every year and one of the best-known fertility festivals is at Komaki City's Tagata shrine, about 45 minutes outside Nagoya. During this festival a large phallic shaped objects are paraded through the streets. Phalluses are fertility symbols in the shrines. Japanese fertility festivals attract many foreign visitors every year.
