Ramadan, the month for fasting for Muslims last for thirty days. During the entire month Muslims abstain from food, water and sexual activities. According to Islam it is best way of devotion of Muslims towards god, which one can devote in such busy life schedules.

 


There are a number of facts, associated with Ramadan like: 

Who All Should Fast
It is believed that all the Muslims above the age of twelve or passed the age of puberty should fast. All Muslims who are physically and mentally challenged should not fast.

Ramadan is the month of fasting for all the Muslims who are followers of Islam. Ramadan is the ninth month of Islamic calendar and is the month of devotion of self to Allah. Muslims believe that duringthis month they must indulge themselves praying to Allah and concentrating less on their daily work schedules. Ramadan involves visiting mosque and praying. The prayers recited by Muslims on the occasion of Ramadan is said to be the Ramadan dua. During Ramadan Muslims have meals twice a day. One meal before the sunrise called suhoor and one meal after the sunset called Iftar.Muslims recite a dua before having their suhoor and Iftar meals. 

Dua recited by Muslims the fast begins: Suhoor
Wa bisawmi ghadinn nawaiytu min shahri Ramadan. 
I intend to keep the fast for tomorrow in the month of Ramadan.

Dua recited by Muslims when they break the fast: Iftar

  • Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu [wa 'alayka tawakkaltu] wa 'ala rizq-ika aftarthu 

    O Allah! I fasted for You and I believe in You [and I put my trust in You] and I break my fast with Your sustenance ["wa 'alayka tawakkaltu" is quoted in some books of knowledge - but not all, hence it is in brackets] [abu Dawud]
  • dhahabadh-dhama'u wab-tallatil 'uruuqi, wa thabatal arju inshaAllah 

    The thrist is gone, the veins are moistened and the reward is confirmed, if Allah [Ta'ala] Wills
