Last week, the entire world was hooked on to the news when Nicolás Maduro became the new President of Venezuela after the death of his predecessor Hugo Chavez. For almost fourteen years, the country has been in news for its anti-US stand, oil reserves and gorgeous Venezuelan women at beauty pageants. With Nicolás Maduro taking charge, tourism industry in Venezuela is expected to get a big boost. We take a look of some of the spectacular places in this country which will take your breath away.

Angel Falls

Located deep in the Canaima National Park, Angel Falls is a sight to behold. It’s the world’s highest waterfall with a height of nearly 979 mts. The waterfall derives its named from Jimmie Angel, an US aviator who spotted the waterfall in 1933 and since then it has caught the imagination of the entire world. The waterfall is so high that much of the water evaporates even before it can reach the ground. Despite its immense popularity, its location and the rough terrain surrounding the waterfall make the trip to Angel Falls a tough task for most people. June to December is the best time to visit the waterfall.
