Weird Holidays
April is: National Humor Month, National Welding Month, International Guitar Month, Keep America Beautiful Month, National Anxiety Month, National Garden Month and Uh-Huh Month! I wonder if in Canada it’s ‘eh?’ month. lol
Just when you thought you knew everything about April, here comes National Cheeseball Day!
What is a Cheese ball?
The Encarta Dictionary for North America, says. (paraphrased), that cheese is a food made from pressed curds of milk from cows, sheep, goats and/or some other animals.
I’ve seen it at parties, made of one or more cheeses flavored with different herbs or spices, usually on a plate, surrounded by crackers and cutesy cheese knives to help for easier serving. I love those wine cheeseballs rolled in walnuts at the Safeway and the ones with garlic and herbed ones and especially the cheese at Anderson’s Pea Soup Restaurant.
Hubby and my favorite cheese (It isn't in a ball, but really, what's the diff?) has always been at the Anderson’s in Buellton, kitty corner from our favorite camping spot. There is a small crock of it in the middle of the bakery shop surrounded with croutons to dip in. Their cheese is to die for! And they make you *stand* in line next to it while waiting for your table. Mmmm sweet torture! There have been times we planned our trips along the 5 freeway just to sample Anderson’s cheese along the way. :)
Gone-ta-pott has the first ever seen by this reporter, Seafood Cheese Ball!!! Even Hidden Valley Ranch has Cheeseball (Cheese Balls) recipes! So, enjoy this weird holiday
