Three couples have now been eliminated from “Dancing with the Stars”. As the number of couples diminishes, those that remain must up the ante and perform stellar dances with less than a week of preparation if they hope to continue on and have a chance at the mirror ball trophy. As the list of dances gets smaller so does the broadcast time as the show was only 90 minutes this week.

This week marked the halfway point of the season. On Patriots Day, the dancers will perform routines to patriotic songs and pay tribute to the Red, White, and Blue. This week the show also featured its 1,000th dance – who would be the lucky couple?

New York born Ralph and Russian born Karina perform the Brazilian Samba to “Sweet Home Alabama” attired in western American outfits. Ralph and Karina kicked off the night with a high energy performance but not all of the judges were pleased with the performance. Len and Bruno felt that Ralph needed more rhythm and that the dance lacked all the qualities of a proper Samba; Bruno said, “it needs fire down below and give me sex.” Carrie Ann disagreed with the guys reminding them that it was Americana week; saying that it was a great entertaining performance and Ralph’s most vivacious performance yet. Ralph and Karina scored 22 points for their Samba.

Chris and Cheryl performed a Viennese Waltz to “America the Beautiful”. Attired as a military man, Chris sought to illicit an eight from Len who has given him a series of sevens. Bruno said the dance was big yet graceful, strong yet delicate, and elegant. Carrie Ann felt that they have underestivated Chris and called him a real contender.
