Sorry to hear that you were hacked. The person sent those links to me yesterday at about 2:13pm , I was kin to read from you but sceptical about the links, it didn't make much sense to me. So I decided to read Arlene mail, behold it was the fake you so, I deleted.

This is a good blog awareness Ben. After reading the comments left here someone not only you got the same message 12 hours ago? You said this happened on May 13th then WHY were others getting this same email just 12 hours ago? Shouldn't this person have been blocked and banned from FanBox once you found out who it was or where the email was coming from?

I did not get this one but have gotten other similiar messages to click here, click this link. I know better to do that and while it might sound like an official email from FanBox it DID NOT come from an official at FanBox therefore it is not real. Fanbox sends messages from the FanBox team and you know it is from them as you can not reply back as well. And if it was true FanBox would of most likely have did their own official blog on it. Therefore it was a scam email.

I am sorry this happened to you and others but we all must be careful with this clicking on links that lead us out of the FanBox Community. If anything when in doubt check the link on your own but NOT through your FanBox account. I just did that the other day to take some spelling test and lo and behold it was not from FanBox so I quickly got out of it and I told that person. I know that people leave links like that in there blogs as well and I do believe that is where I was led to and this is not a good thing.

I have been here only 6 weeks now and my inbox at times is full of junk!! I have learned to delete many of these if someone either is begging for me to read their posts or directing me to a page that reads - Post Deleted, etc. Then I have to spend time telling this person this and wasting my precious time on nonsense messaging back and forth. With all that is going on with Identity Fraud with the IRS and people hacking into computers you always have to stay on top of these computer situations at all times. They also have a new think called Safe Lock as well.
I thank you for this blog Ben and hopefully everyone remains vigilant with this and you get everything sorted out. I am happy to hear FanBox gets right on these things as well. Great blog Ben!

It was a person from israel ..... god how on earth did he got my passes i dont even remember ...... still trying to pick hints and trails and few crumbs but no use :(

Great awareness blog Nicky and i thank you for posting it.You couldn't have done better to save your account from being hacked because the hacker had the idea of using Johnny cash-a trusted person to get to people's accounts.

The internet is not as safe as it used to be before because hackers are becoming more sophisticated in their online activites. That is why I would strongly advice anyone registering on any site never to use their social networking accounts directly to register .

Very important advice for protecting account .
Thanks for you told us your experience.

glad to hear this is over. I think it's time FanBox set up better security measures within the site as well. Perhaps automatically unlogging anyone who's been logged for a set length of time or when the system detects inactivity while a user is still logged in or something to that effect. A secondary password or a pin perhaps, when interacting in the "market place," and so on. Anyway, what you've shared here is very alarming and we thank you for passing on the info.

Ben : Thanks for sharing this information - infact few months back my Gmail account was also HACKED ( the Hacker also got into my FanBox account which was suspended/flagged and recently my Yahoo account was about to be Hacked, but a friend helped me to save it from hacking ) .... you've correctly advised that we should try to change PASSWORD every month or 2 months time.

To everyone on my fans list if you have not taken the time to check out this blog you really should as there are some really bad people out here that will take advantage of all of your hard work. Please help all of us at FanBox Stop them from doing what they did to my friend!

You shouldn't feel bad; it can happen to the best of us. Another thing, whenever you get messages like this you should not click the link and sign into anything/nothing. If needs be, you should open a separate browser and enter the site you are a member of web address and sign in from your site's official home/sign-in page. The hacker maybe closer than we think, eh.

Thanks for the reminder.

About a year ago I had my facebook account hijacked after I had failed to logout at an internet cafe. The hijacker sent friendship requests and I love you messages to some strangers to whom I had to apologise.

Early this year, my gmail account was hacked soon after I had searched the web (in vain) for some software. I had signed on to so many sites that Icould not tell which one was the culprit. The lesson was about just how vulnerable I am. I am now less thirsty for strange sites.

Perhaps it is a bad idea to access an account through another: instead of hacking two accounts with different passwords, they only have to hack one and get the other(s) free.
