If you fancy bizarre and unique travel adventures, you have to try a night or two in the world's strangest hotels. Be it ice or salt complexes, candy-pink rooms for a Barbie doll or underwater, floating cabins,  these lodging options are very far from what we normally call a standard.

 

1. Ice Hotel

Staying at Ice Hotel is an absolutely unique experience. The hotel, located in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden is the oldest and the largest ice and snow complex in the world. Covering 5,500 sq m, the hotel is built each winter anew and the season 2010/2011 will be its 21st edition.

The legendary cave hotels in the Turkish region of Cappadocia are one of the most extraordinary hotel complexes on the globe. The suits have been carved out of soft volcanic rocks that cover the entire region. In the past, the rock shelters were used as houses, churches and monasteries.
