Once we have a correct understanding of human nature, a lot of the lies and inconsistencies we see start making sense.

So here goes.

 Who are we, and what causes us to act the way we do?

Where the Problem Begins

So, who are we, anyway - (and what's that got to do with hypocrites?) Fortunately, God hasn't left us in the dark as to who we are.

 The Bible has a lot to say about the nature of man, and why we do the things we do.

“Psalm 51:5 under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, David makes the statement that he was "brought forth in iniquity".

 And he says he was 'brought forth' or born that way.

 Essentially, David is saying he's been a sinner since conception.

By nature fish swim, birds fly, and men and women sin!

When Adam and Eve sinned against God in the Garden of Eden their natures were transformed.

 And the results of their disobedience were passed on to all their descendants.

"For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.

 No, not one.

 God is telling us here that all humanity, with no exception, "misses the mark".

 Meaning we're going to fall short.

 And, left to ourselves (I.

, without the aid of the Holy Spirit) we can't stop it!

Jesus said, "Whoever commits sin, is a slave of sin.
