Savoring:  The Key To Stretching Your Dollar

Research psychologists have many great tricks up their sleeves. Maybe it’s because they study humans like guinea pigs to figure out what really makes us complicated humans tick.

Feeling stressed? They say you can reason yourself out of it (studies show this actually works).

Rushed all the time? They recommend that you slow down, and you’ll be a nicer person (a famous study shows that this is true, no matter who you are).

Feeling broke? Or wish you could stretch your dollar more?  When I'm working with people on finances - especially recovery from job loss, foreclosure, divorce or the big D - debt - I have a lot of knowledge and practical advice, but I'm not a CPA or certified financial consultant, so I'd normally tell you to head straight to financial prayer, study, professional advice and a Income & Budgeting Tools (you can’t have enough free tools at your fingertips; you can find many good free ones online and at my Teaching Site, QHL, I offer a list of resources)—but today, I'm going to give you a break. I'm going to let you in on an easy way to stretch your dollar and enhance your happiness, and it’s also totally FREE. It’s the Biblical principle called savoring.

Matthew 16:23 - But He [Jesus] turned to Peter and spoke directly to the spirit using Peter, "Get behind Me, satan: you offend Me: for you don't savor the things of God, you savor the things of men."

What does this have to do with your finances?

What Is Savoring?

Savoring is receiving emotional pleasure or enjoyment from something.  It’s the difference between wolfing down a meal versus lingering over every bite and deciding it's almost orgasmic in its ability to satisfy you.

Scientists have consistently found that the ability to savor triggers a happiness connection to whatever it is that you are savoring.  Jesus says we can actually get that charge from the things of God.  I know most of you don't believe that!  LOL.

But I'm serious!  Savoring is one of the best tricks for maximizing your finances, because you can deliberately connect getting more happiness for the buck from the same experience, product or expense.  You simply put your finances under control in the realm of the Kingdom... if you know how.   Which leads me to an ironic point …

Money Itself Gets in the Way of Savoring Money as a Thing Of God.
