It will be very interesting to read what other have to say about 'The Difference Between Fan and Friends', I know personal as a SC I have had to explain this over and over.

The other big thing clients ask is why am I not earning more from CAR as I have 1000 pts I earned from CAR through the Genie. I would love to see you write on this Gerry maybe once and for all the point system used in Genie can be explained so that everyone understands what the points are for.

Yes, I too have found that people get confused about what the Fans and Friends are - and even when they do know, they still don't understand how to maximize their fan/friend matches through the deliberate use of tags. So that is a discussion we'll definitely explore.

You brought up another really good aspect of the Cat & Rating / CAR Score discussions that is generally misunderstood... POINTS.

Both these topics (Fans/Friends & Points) will require posts so that we can discuss and explore them properly and in the Ask Gerry posts for the upcoming weeks (a new Ask Gerry post will appear every Wednesday) you'll find more information.

For those of you who can't wait -- I'll go ahead and share the quick answer to each -- if you all PROMISE that you realize that the "quick answer" does not tell you the whole story. The whole story involves how to take the information and apply it in your "success strategy" to increase your earnings and goal accomplishments.

Simply: "Fanning" creates a 1-Way relationship between yourself and other FanBoxers. When you become someone's "Fan" you begin to see your their postings on your Home Page (news feed). However, they DO NOT see yours unless they Fan you back or if tags in your Interest Cloud match theirs and your ads get served to them or theirs to you. (You ARE putting up lots of ads?).

So you definitely want to encourage people to "Fan" you back and you want to "Become A Fan" of those who have become your Fan.

"Friending" is a little more intrusive a move on a fellow member and because some people don't really care to have all your "stuff" crowding their Home Feed page if they don't know you, FanBox asks you to friend only those people you "know" or have established a relationship with. In other words, you pretty well know they are going to see you as an interesting new friend, not a pushy spammer. Here's what Friending does: It is a 2-way relationship immediately. When you "Friend" someone and they accept you as a friend, you begin seeing their postings on your Home Page AND they immediately start seeing your postings on their Home Feed. You nor they need to do anything else, (except pay attention to your tags) because the acceptance of the "friendship" means that you are both agreeing you want to keep up with each other's work and would welcome their "stuff" presented on your page to take a look at.

"Points" is a way to help you quantify and measure your progress with the elements of Categorizing and Rating. It's a training tool that helps you establish a base measure of your efforts in correlation with your earnings. It doe NOT mean a particular value in earnings. For example, let's say May Ram does 1,500 "points" per day in the Genie area. This means that she is consistently inputting a certain number of terms (her own and agreeing/rating those that others left) and can gauge how much SHE earns for this activity by comparing her 1500 day achievements with her reported bank earnings (allowing for the posting lag between when you worked and when its reported on your bank). So May can measure HER earnings based on HER efforts and the points gives her a way to quantify those efforts. If she does more points she can watch to see how it makes her earn x more. If she does less, how it makes her earn x less. If she rates this way she can see if she does not earn as many "points" for terms. Hmmm. So she can adjust. Yes, rating this way returns her points to that level and her earnings for that many points are..." Its a way to help you know what you can do to adjust YOUR earnings and maximize.

What you cannot do is say, "May Ram earns $25 for 1,500 points -- so if I go in and do 1,500 points every day I will earn $25." That is NOT how earnings are calculated at FanBox.

To earn big money by Cat and Rate, one should
1. Categorize at least 100 posts everyday through Genie and by reading ads.
2. If skipped a day, your CAR points will start from the beginning again so do it continuously.
After 30 days, if you continuously Cat and Rate, your earning will become at least 20$ a day...

Wow. I think they are pretty dedicated. 20 to 25 posts and I think I'm spending too much time - but hey, that's me. My life is VERY busy. If you have the time and enjoy it enough to stick with it consistently, maybe you would try it just to test his theory. I don't agree that your score "starts over" CAR Score and the FanBox Compensation System have many factors. It's not just CAR, it's not just the algorithms and earnings are a combination of individual AND communitywide proportional earnings. But he is right that consistency is key. If you come in and CAR 3 times a week - CAR consistently 3 times a week. Same with posts. I recommend 1 post per day. It is much better for your earnings to do 1 post per day than come in and post 7 posts in a day and disappear the rest of the week.

$20 a day is not bad but I'd look at the time and effort you're putting in for it. Divide that $20 by your hours spent. Worth it? Go for it. But I think among members trying it - you would all get different results than that $20 - based on your other factors.

For me, I want to learn to work SMART so I can work LESS effortlessly for MORE free money and free time. I believe you can do that by learning all the factors that control your earnings. FanBox actually teaches you... but most people miss it.

Many people tell me they have a glitch... or the system doesn't like Filipinos. Or Indians. Or women. Or men. Or smart people.

Here's what I say. I would never not hear you when you say that because I actually did have a glitch and no one would listen to me for 2 1/2 months. BUT IT IS RARE. And you know what? FanBox DOES care and they will respond to you. But there is a process and like with a court of law, it is up to you to gather your evidence to prove your case. I can show you how to do that -- BUT THE MOST LIKELY THING is that you are working hard and long but not at the things that REALLY would help you earn, or you are working too little and expecting too much for what you're doing.

That's why a good coach is important. They can help you see things clearly that you are just not seeing. Think about this -- Michael Jordan was one of the greats -- but you know what? He had a shooting coach. He didn't want to be great, he wanted to be the best. Tiger Woods did not win all his championships on his talent alone. He hired coaches who helped him focus his talents where they would serve him best.

Do you have a Success Coach? Work with them - there are some good ones here. I'm a teacher and do my best to put in these posts what I know will help you succeed. If you want to work one on one I try to make time availabe for that because I know every one of you can succeed here. You can! And it really doesn't take 100 posts or your first born child. Smile.

I'm sorry, I know that can be very discouraging. There are a number of reasons that could happen and I would need to look more closely with YOU for us to pinpoint and test out exactly what caused this for you and prescribe a remedy. LOL I say prescribe because this is exactly how a doctor must feel. A patient comes in and says I have a pain in my right side and nausea. The patient is sure they have appendicitis, but the doctor has several diagnoses that pops into his head. Without a good history and some tests he can't tell the patient why their side is hurting.

Tell you what NEXT WEEK your post will be the ASK GERRY question of the week and I'll give some of those diagnoses that popped into my head when I read your letter so that everyone can see how the process works.

Hi Gerry.
I was really confused with what they call "CAR score" for almost 3 months here in fanbox I did not experienced yet that I earned at least $1 a day. I'm shy to tell you that my highest earnings in C&R is only 0.51 even doing it well.. And the worst was when I did not able to visit Fanbox for a week when I came back I found out that my earnings goes down from 0.02 per day. Well, I have no question for that I understand because I was absent the whole week. But when I do C&R instead that my earnings will go back to what I am expecting it goes even more little from 0.02 to 0.01. I was very disappointed with the result because for the whole week I am spending much time to carefully read post and understand it for me to earn but to my dismay still I earned the same thing. I already ask several friends here in fanbox just to answer my question but still I remain clueless despite from their honest answers and given tips. I really don't understand why somebody could earn higher from C&R and why I cant. I am hoping that you could enlightened me from this.

Ahdner - please do not EVER feel shy about discussing your experiences and earnings. We're all in this together and many people have had this same experience. Let's see what we can do about moving you forward. Many things affect your CAR Score and it can take up to 3 weeks to start seeing the results of your efforts. Here are some factors that can affect your SCORE besides how you perform C&R:

1. Consistentency.
Make sure that if you can Cat & Rate only 1000 points 3 times a week, that you week after week do 1000 points 2 or 3 days out of the week.

2. Earning in all areas of FanBox can raise your score. Make sure you are posting consistently, placing and funding ads (you can fund an ad for as low as $1) it may not seem to make you much money but the algorithms will credit you for being "active". Boost (again you can Boost for as low as $1). Find something you can sell in Provider. Become a Teacher. What? When i don't even know enough to earn? Well do you know what? You earn from your students and it does not take ONE CENT from them. If you know how to navigate around FanBox you can show them where to go to learn with you. Support them. Cheer them on - you can both learn together! Just put up a blog on your page that says FanBox Training and put links to the best tutorials you find around FanBox. When your students go from your link to all these other links... guess what? YOU EARN. Linking is an easy and smart way to earn and learn.

3. Make sure that you complete your Profile.

4. Work and study - work with your coach or with a private coach or learn on your own from all the posts here on FanBox how to create really good Ads and how to Boost.

5. Follow my Ask Gerry and Geek Speak blogs - I'm about to do a series on how to earn on FanBox. I believe in you. You CAN raise your earnings. it will take some effort and some time, but you can do it. I'm here to teach you -- I love helping people succeed. Apply what you learn. If you don't understand something, ask. If you still don't understand, ask again. There are no stupid questions.

6. Another thing many people don't consider is that OTHER PEOPLE COULD BE LOWERING YOUR SCORE. Read this post and we'll talk about what you can do to help build a friend and fan base that will TRULY BE YOUR FANS and you will get paid for them reading your page --- http://posts.fanbox.com/tqdm4.

Now, I want you to stop watching and worrying about your C&R results. it takes from 24 to 72 hours for your results to show up in your bank from something you do on any given day. Right now I want you to just concentrate on quality and consistency. Send me a private message. Pick a post - any post you care to pick and send me the url to that post. Then tell me HOW you would Cat & Rate that post. Tell me if you agree or disagree with the terms that are there and what number you rate them. Tell me what term or terms you would put in the yellow search box and what number you rate. This will give me an idea of how well you are understanding the post and how you pick tag words. We'll go from there.

Thanks for sharing Gerry, I had read through each of these posts in the past and did as you said. I developed my own style of cat/rate that works for me. Some days I will search out blogs on specific topics, if I am feeling strong in a certain strain of words. and other days I will just use the cat/rate machine in the genie. Both earn me the same and so long as I take the time to go back through the blogs I liked and leave meaningful comments, I generally get others reading my stuff more.
