Detroit area ranks number five for stressful living

City living where you can find more than one Starbucks for that morning coffee rush, more facilities and hopefully more job opportunities. However, those dream cities may not give you all the dreams you had hoped for and can cause you more stress than the stress free life you had dreamed of.

So what actually makes a city stressful and not that perfect dream? In order to measure the stress of Americans in information cruncher Sperling's Best Places took into consideration the fifty largest metropolitan areas that included suburbs. The crunching team had taken into consideration the factors of commute times, divorce rate, unemployment, property crime, violent crime, alcohol consumption, suicides, sleep problems, mental health and the yearly number of cloudy days.

After all that number crunching there was not much difference in several categories. The top cities had ranged in the following; for alcohol consumption 8.7 to 14 drinks each month, poor mental health for days each month in metro areas ranged 2.9 to 4.3 and the days for poor sleep ranged from 6.9 to 8.2 a month.
