Choosing heart healthy foods

Heart health begins in your grocery cart. The foods you choose can play an intergral role in your cholesterol level and cardiac health.

February is American Heart Month, with a focus on preventing heart disease. The FDA recently proposed an increase in the daily recommended serving of plant sterols from 1.3 grams to 2 grams. Plant sterols are naturally-occurring, plant-based compounds that are proven in clinical studies to fight heart disease by lowering bad cholesterol.
