1) Install the Processor
Though there's plenty of room in the NZXT H2 we're using, we always prefer to install as many of the components outside the case as possible. So, as usual, we're beginning with the motherboard. The CPU is an easy place to begin: Just push in and then pull out on the metal bar to open the socket. (If you're assembling an entirely new computer rather than just upgrading an old one, you'll probably have to remove the black plastic protective plate from the socket; it guards the pins, which is good during shipping but not so much during building.) Line up the golden triangle on one corner of the processor with the engraved triangle on the socket, then place the CPU gently into the socket. Once it's perfectly aligned, close the socket again by pushing the metal bar back down and underneath the tab that holds it in place.
