Mumbai native Freida Pinto (25) may have gotten her start after signing with Elite Model Management in India in 2005, appearing in ads for everything from Wrigley's Chewing Gum and Skoda Auto to Visa and eBay, but it was her role in Trainspotting director Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire that brought her to our attention stateside. After a six-month audition period, Pinto won the lead female role of Latika, even though it was her first professional acting role of any kind. The movie went on to pick up eight out of the 10 Oscars for which it was nominated at the 2009 Academy Awards, including two of the most sought after awards, Best Director and Best Motion Picture. Not bad for a first acting gig. Needless to say, Pinto’s 2010 is packed with the release of three A-list films: You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, opposite Anthony Hopkins and Josh Brolin; Miral, opposite Willem Dafoe; and American Empire, opposite Jeremy Piven.
