I saw a comment somewhere that was claiming Jesus didn’t really die on the cross and if Christians really loved Jesus so much they should be happy he didn’t die.

There are two problems with this. First there is NO way humanly possible that Jesus did not die when he was crucified.

By the time Jesus had been put up on the cross he had already suffered a huge amount of blood loss from the being scourged 39 times.

The weapon used for scourging by the Romans was a short whip consisting of several heavy, leather thongs with two small balls of lead attached near the ends of each.

Beatings proceeded as follows:

The heavy whip is brought down with full force again and again across the shoulders, back and legs. At first the heavy thongs cut through the skin only. Then, as the blows continue, they are cut deeper into the Subcutaneous tissues, producing first an oozing of blood from the Capillaries and veins of the skin, and finally spurting arterial bleeding from the blood vessels in the underlying muscles.

The small balls of lead first produce large, deep bruises which are broken open by subsequent blows.

Finally the skin of the back is hanging in long ribbons and the entire area is an unrecognizable mass of torn bleeding tissue.  When it was determined by the centurion in charge that the prisoner was near death, the beating is finally stopped.

After this beating Jesus was forced to carry heavy crossbeam for the cross to the site. By this time he has lost mass amounts of blood, he is beyond recognition from the beatings and the crown of thorns being crushed into his head.

After already suffering the horrendous beatings and the loss of blood he is nailed on a cross.

The following is a medical account of what crucifixions consisted of:

Jesus is quickly thrown backward with his shoulders against the wood.  The legionnaire feels for the depression at the front of the wrist.

There were hundreds of witnesses to the crucifixion of Christ, it is a historical fact Jesus Christ was crucified as well as there being history of what the Roman practice of Crucifixion involved.

There were also witnesses to his being removed from the Cross. Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for Jesus body to place his family tomb, had it not truly been Jesus there would have been a riot.

The Roman guards would not logically have been placed to guard the tomb of a "Jesus look a like" nor would they have been so worried that when Jesus said he would rise from the grave in three days it might happen.

The crosses were in plain view of all who witnessed this form of death by the Romans, not to mention people who were crucified were without any covering so it would have been impossible to have someone that looked enough like Jesus on the cross to fool all those who watched him being nailed to the cross or hanging there all the time he was there before he finally gave up his spirit.

It shouldn't be a surprise that Jesus could still be alive. He was ablle to raise the dead. His body was missing from the tomb. And he was seen. That for sure was him on the cross. It was what he wanted. He said that there is no greater thing that you can do then giving up your life for the people. That was where none of his followers would dare to follow. If they did, they would have been with him now.

I actually saw a documentary about how much Jesus suffered in the Discovery Channel (of all places). They explained all the stuff you mentioned above in scientific terms and how painful it was. They even examined the Shroud of Turin and it coincided with all the injuries described in the Bible.

Awesome post!

God bless you for this post. Keep on shouting out the truth, everyone needs to hear about it, whether they believe it or not but I believe somehow, some may be saved by the hearing of the gospel of Jesus Christ. That video was exceptional. Shalom.

VERY well-written post.Given the author's great deal of obviously extensive knowledge in a medical field as well as in history,i believe, should really help the better understanding of what kind of Holy Sacrifice that was.Not only did the Lord died for us,but He accepted this kind of torture and eventually death willfully and intentionally.Accepted that from the SINNERS.Yet,He was absolutely INNOCENT.But,after all,He rose from that cross.Christ has risen!
I absolutely agree with Bob,one day after the seed dies,it gives LIFE

I believe in everything that has been written in the bible, therefore, I believe that Jesus died, was buried and rose from the dead after 3 days. It is in believing that our faith is being strengthened. It was because of His sufferings that all mankind had been saved from sin. Jesus has two natures, divine and human. His divine nature is eternal and was never created. His human nature is mortal, and was conceived in the womb of the Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit. Christ died on the cross to do the will of God the Father, to save all mankind from their sins.

I love your post Congresswomen Cindy.
