How to stafe safe from scammer and other predators.

The internet is a great place to discover information on almost any subject, and for making new friends via the many social networks and special interest groups. 

Unfortunately it is not only honest people that use the internet - large numbers of scammers and other unpleasant people are always trying to make money from the majority by menas of scams and other illegal activities like phishing, identity theft, etc.

The advice I will offer on this blog will be of most value to the less experienced users, but may also benefit some who have been victims already by helping them to avoid further problems.

The first topic I will deal with is the use of message systems on social networks to 'harvest' email addresses.
