Many writers, whether it is writing for blogs, hubs, articles or even a short story or novel, will often find the hardest part about writing is getting started, putting that first word or sentence on the page. The page looks blank and intimidating to many of us and we panic and start to feel like writing is a fate worse than death. We will often sit down, start to write and remember a million things we need to do, like water our plants, wash dishes, clean the house and oh yes, that laundry probably needs to be done,right now.

Each and every writer must find the methods that work best for them, but there are two things to remember about writing. Remind yourself:

1) You want to write because you have some valuable ideas you would like to share with readers.

2) More than anything else, you want to communicate those ideas to your readers.

 The above reminders may seem rather obvious to many, but they are to help us remember we need a solid commitment to our own opinions as well as to our readers because without that, our writing will be lifeless and boring. If you don't care about a subject matter, you cannot expect anyone else to either. Have confidence in subjects that are of interest to you, have faith in them as being worthwhile and that your readers genuinely want and need to know what you think or know about a subject.

Remember too, that when a written piece fails to generate interest it is often because a writer may not have moved forward to the point of communicating your opinion to others clearly, and persuasively. You must first engage the reader then you must always keep your readers in mind as you write to them. Many times writers do not move beyond merely talking on paper, to themselves and not to others. Whether you wish to inform others, change their minds or stir them to action, you cannot accomplish that end result if only you understand what you mean. How will readers know what you mean if it is not presented clearly?
