Teenagers. So misunderstood, striving to be an invidual and be heard. It's not hard to communicate with teens, all you need to do is REMEMBER. Remember what being a teen felt like. Remember how it seemed like you had so much to worry about. School, home life, and most of all, the most important thing to a teen, their friends. Most parents seem to have forgotten what it was like back then, and how our friends affected everything we did. For the most part, most teens are on the right road, excelling good in school, making plans for the future, summer jobs..then there are the ones, (like I was) who seems to flounder and fight their way through life. Not quite getting what it is they're supposed to be doing, or NOT doing. Most of their friends are outcasts, like themselves, and you can tell who they are. They're the ones with the multicolored hair, or clothes that have to stand out and say "look at me!!, I'm not like you!"  Disruptive in class, and at home, using music as stress relievers and making it the number one thing in life. I try to be as close as I can with my teenage son emotionally so he talks to me about things which I really appreciate.

It pays off in the long run not to freak out over the things they trust to you. Just remember what it was like to be a teen.

teenagers are so difficult to handle. Probably one reason is peer pressure. and I agree with you, if the teen is outcast, surely, he may turn into drugs, alcohol and worst to crime. As my part, i will try my best to encourage my sons to be open with me about anything. Thank you. this article is good. educate the young ones.
