Famous Women Who Were Cheerleaders

Many of the women that are famous stars today are women who started out being slightly famous in the halls of their high schools – as cheerleaders. The most obvious famous females that were cheerleaders in the past are those women who are known for their dance skills and gymnastics abilities. After all, cheerleading trained these gals for performing those feats on a bigger stage. However, there are also famous actresses and models and other ladies who began their lives in the spotlight under the glaring lights of the football fields back home.

Here’s a look at some famous women who were cheerleaders before they were national or international stars:

Paula Abdul.

We know her now as one of the judges on American Idol but back in her heyday the singer Paula Abdul was known for the great dancing she would add to her stage performances and music videos. Those skills were honed on the courts and fields of her high school where she was a head cheerleader (and also the homecoming queen). She didn’t stop there, though; Paula Abdul also went on to be a cheerleader for the Los Angeles Lakers before she finally made a name for herself in music.

Madonna.

This is another singer who is known as much for her dance abilities as she is for the sound of her voice. Madonna is a stunner on the stage. Much of her moves are original but she learned the basics from the choreography of cheerleading, a sport she participated in while she was attending the University of Washington.

Sheryl Crow.

Now here is a singer that isn’t particularly known for her dance moves and yet she does indeed have a history as a cheerleader. Goes to show that sometimes there are other talents that stand out more than those that were displayed during high school!
