Noone really knows what its like to be an amputee except the people that live with it everyday. I never really thought about what it would be like if it happened to me. let's face it who really does? When we are younger and we watch horror films we sometimes make jokes about it or do the what if kind of thing. But noone really knows. I sure didn't! Until one fateful day it began to happen to me. There were alot of issues and circumstances that led up to me being an amputee. It didn't just happen.

One day as I ended a sixteen hour day at a hotel I had been working at I went home and did the usual thing to unwind after a long hard day of standing nonstop on my feet. I sat down turned on the tv and took off my shoes. On my left foot I noticed that i had a blister develop down by my left heel. So I washed it and put a band aid on it. Really thought nothing of it after that. A couple days later after working another long shift I did the same thing I always do. when I looked down at my left heel to check the blister again I noticed that a small hole had begun to form. I made an appointment to see the doctor. The doctor thoroughly checked it out

Thanks for sharing your story of how you became an amputee. I bet there are many people out there who could share a story that is somewhat the same as yours, yet totally different. If someone is a fairly new amputee who is feeling down about it, maybe reading your story and listening to how you have survived your ordeal, it might help give others have courage to deal with their own situation.

your story is not different from the one we see in our environment here but thank god u met the love of your life who cares, so get your life going and be happy at least you are alive. In some cases in my environment here the reverse is the case but thank god things are getting better now with the government giving special appointment to people like u. This story of yours will even give people who are in thesame condition never to give up but seek for possible solution and forge ahead.

Very touching story Tara....life is really full of mysterious things...it all began with a sore due to wearing high heels and standing for a long time, then ended with no leg. Just like what happened to my mother, due to a wound caused by the pedicure on her foot, the infection easily spread up to her leg, that caused it to be amputated. Because she had diabetes, decision had to be made and things became worst. When she woke up after the operation, she could not accept the fact that she already lose her leg, this caused her to have heart attack which led to her death. Oh...how I miss her so much up to this day, because when she died, I was out of the country and I didn't see her sufferings.

Wow Tara...that is really something hard for someone to go through that type of a life altering situation! You seem to be of good spirit which probably helped you through the ordeal. Having Ronnie in your life is a blessing I'm sure! Some people go through a tough time of it, but it really depends on your outlook in life. Wishing you all the best in your life ahead! Thanks for the share.
