The same Gallup Poll that showed Mississippi was the most religious and also least intelligent state also so showed a huge jump in the non-religious. Jumping from 12% just 2 years ago to now 32% of Americans. This is a great short video from the Reason Rally - check it out!

Maybe in 10 years people will be less religious and controlled so there will be many new opportunities! Churches can be turned into places of learning and, there will be more money to help people in need! ;)

Agreed. You definitely do not need religion to have morality and some highly immoral things have been done in the name of religion.

Thank you for your comment GVR! I agree with every word you said. In the United States, religious institutions, however small, are not taxed. A study by an independent group should the United States is foregoing over 71 BILLION dollars in taxes by not taxing these places. And now, I am off to read your post - thanks for commenting!

There is something to all of it. Jesus was against religion, but, He was for a personal relationship with the creator. He went to the cross to free us from religion and its rituals, i.e. "It is Finished!" If you can love god and love eachother as he loved us, you got it made. Religion is dangerous but a private relationship with God is benefitial. Well; in my opinion that is. If you don't want to believe in God, then don't, that's okay with you so it's okay with me and it's okay with God too. We both are able to excercise our free will and still care about each other and while God may be sadened about your choice, He respects it because that is the way he made everyone, free to choose.I am not religious but do believe in God and find worthwhile value in what Jesus taught. Good post. thanks!
