About this Author

Jo Potocki helps pro choice movements.

I got sent this today by someone who well, obviously doesn't agree with me.
She further went on to imply that I may become a criminal without God in my life to help me know right from wrong. I'm almost 50 yrs old, if I haven't figured out right from wrong by now, I really need to become part of the natural selection process. Here is what she sent:

Jesus died for you.
You are a sinner. Jesus Christ died on the cross for all of your sins. He was buried and rose again. Believe in Him and you will go to heaven.

i think here the bible says pray yes but in the same token god gives you gifts, skills, etc whatever you want 2 call it so that you can use them those arent christins those are the give me people they use god as an excuse why someone should do something 4 them taht aint what the bible teaches it teaches you as a christian are suppose to help others thats not christ like if you believe in bible if god was going 2 do everything 4 you why would his only son which the bible teaches work? god works in misterious ways when you r following him & doing everything u can do. if he meant 4 some1 else 2 do something u r suppose 2 do wouldnt his son b born in a nice big ol grand house no he was born in a barn with animals even his gifts given 2 him 4 his birth werent really worth anything. he lived a humble life shouldnt we live the same way within our means. he didnt eat in resturants if life was meant 2 be that way his son would of been the example of that. bible says i wont give u more then u can bear doesnt that also mean we shouldnt take on more than we can bear as in house job clothes car come on stop using god as a reason y u should have this or that. hate christians like that again showing the wrong example of christ.

@Melissa - you know what I love about you? You practice what you preach and I admire and respect that. You don't care I don't believe, you aren't defensive - you know what you know and I think that's fantastic. Thanks for your comment.

@Charlott - I didn't think you were being judgmental at all. That's a very good, heartfelt comment - thank you for sharing!

@Johnathan - Why would I fear an imaginary being would strike me dead for questioning his existence because you pray it is so? I think praying for someone to be killed is a little mentally warped dude. In forethought however, if I don't respond again, your prayer worked!

@MissDee I don't think it's ignorant nor arrogant to not believe in Jesus. I'm sorry if you do. My lack of belief in what I deem little more than fairy tales really shouldn't affect you at all. I'm not stopping you from believing nor am I suggesting you should. I'm just stating my own personal opinion as you are welcome to yours.

@Carol - Hello! Thanks for all your excellent comments. I think being respectful when someone doesn't feel the same is very important. I acknowledge someone may be differently and may have different experiences than I do. I don't even presume to take that away from anyone.

Now, onward to serial killers. I was a ghostwriter for a book on serial killers and mass murderers who converted and repented during their time in prison or before their deaths. Being a ghostwriter, I have to learn whatever the subject I'm writing about inside and out and fortunately, I find research a lot of fun!

well i agree that Jesus exists,,,He would not have been recognized or been talk of too many people if he didn't exist, about the outside writing about Jesus of course he will not put in magazines because it was a long time ago that he lived. The bible is His book , writings and teachings about him though so many are writing on comics style, if you happen to enroll in a private schools of catholics there you can find books and comics about his life i don't think you are updated o this....ty

Thanks for your comment Gloria! You're right, I do not believe there were magazines in the time of Jesus either. I'll do my best to get updated.

@Max - I wasn't kidding, I do not believe in Jesus and to answer your other question, no, I don't fear "Hell".

carol i agree on some points i was raised with respect, be polite, and manners all the way around i believe if i hadnt been raised that way and an openness of when your an adult or old enough thats the better term to make your own descions you make the one that is right for you. without manners and respect you cant have a debate or conversation because you always trying to be right. im christian and i have no problem with people who dont believe as for prayer i believe this if someone who actually believes prayer works and they are praying the right way yes god can use them not all the time does our so called want and need match up with god ex i need a million dollars but to god i need 30 dollars or i need this mancion but to god i need a 1 bedroom apartment i know one women whose a christian shes oriental not sure her ethanicity but she said because of where shes from with the magic she doesnt believe in allowing people to pray for her i think it cant hurt because god can only be perfect so why would he allow bad to come out of a prayer to each their own

Good comment Melissa! I spoke to a lady on a plane, she was from Vietnam and newly converted so she of course spent the entire plane ride trying to get me to "just come to Jesus" but she did tell me that in Vietnam, her particular sect of Christianity said any type of pray for another is considered against God's Divine Plan. I thought that was very interesting.

Interesting post JoLynn. I have no problem with people believing what they want to, but don't appreciate it when they try to impart their beliefs on others. In regards to prayer...I think praying and expecting the answer to fall out of the sky so to speak without taking any action to change your circumstance is unrealistic. I think for some prayer is hope in some respects and I believe in hope.

@Christa - Here's an example, why should I pray for God to help my elderly, widowed neighbor in bad health and on a fixed income and provide food to her because she sent all her money to those thieves on TBN hoping God would bump her up in line to have prayers answers?
Why don't I hook her up with someone that can help her get the most in benefits she can qualify for as an elderly widow? Why don't I just cook extra food with every meal so I can run over a nutritious plate of food to her until she can help herself?
I see people using the power of prayer to basically look like they care but they want God to be the big janitor and clean up the mess - that's sheer laziness.
