Look at some verified facts - Jesus is a myth.

The story of Horus, an Egyptian god that predates Jesus by 3,000 years.

Egypt
Horus - 3000 BCE
Horus was born on December 25th of the virgin Isis
There was a star in the East announcing his arrival.
Upon his birth he was adored by 3 kings
At the age of 12 he was a prodigal child teacher.
At the age of 30 he was baptised by a figure known as Anup

and thus began his ministry.
Horus had 12 disciples he traveled about with performing miracles such as healing the sick and walking on water.

Horus was known by many names such as :
The Truth
The Light
God's Annointed Son
The Good Shepherd
The Lamb of God
and many others

After being betrayed by Typhon, Horus was crucified, buried for 3 days and then resurrected.

These attributes of Horus whether original or not permeate several cultures of the world for many other "gods".

Greece - 1200 BCE
Attis
born of the virgin Nona on December 25th
Crucified, placed in a tomb and then resurrected.

India
Krishna - 900 BCE
Born of a virgin mother with a star in the east announcing his arrival.
Performed miracles with his disciples and upon his death was resurrected.

Greece
Dionysus - 500 BCE
Born of a virgin mother on December 25th
Was a traveling teacher that performed miracles such as turning water into wine.
He was referred to as "The King of Kings" "God's Only Begotten Son" "Alpha and Omega" and many other names.
Upon his death he was resurrected.

Persia
Mithra - 1200 BCE
Born of a virgin on December 25th
Had 12 disciples and performed miracles
Upon his death was dead for 3 days then resurrected.
He was also referred to as "The Truth" "The Light"
Sacred day of worship was Sunday

There are over 30 more "saviors" from different cultures and times that subscribe to these general characteristics.

@Elise - If you're going to rely on the bible as your only history, do yourself a favor and learn the origins. Believe if you want, but get educated as to why it was written and what inspired it, in other words, entertain another point of view for solely informational purposes.

Hello Saad,
Yes, I am familiar with the tenants of your beautiful religion Islam as I am lucky enough to have a Muslim sister. I personally do not believe Jesus was an actual person and is nothing more than a mythilogical character. There is zero evidence of his existence outside the bible.

There was a time in history when Hercules was real to the Greeks, he did healings, appeared to people and people prayed to him. When a society dies, so do their Gods. Now Hercules is just a myth taught to children in schools as such.

"I have come not to destroy but to fulfill." - Jesus

As for me here, Jesus is my Allah.

well look jolynn as you have written that your sister is a muslim then i will say that you should spend more time with her . discuss with her about islam and Holy Qur'an(The only book that is known for its truthfulness in the world ) . there you will find that every prophet born in this world were true , loyal and honest to their nations as a father . they are almost said to be 1 lakh(100 thousand) 21 thousand prophet sent to this world to guide their nations to the right path which lead them to the God (Allah) . Jesus(esa (P.B.U.H)) was on of them and he was real . As far as the myths are concerned they were made by the people who are called Zions in the history . these people never let the prophets do their job in their life . they always made troubles for prophet so that they can not do their their job . in short when u start spending with your sister and ask her to translate the Qur'an for you then you will realize that we human and devils are send to this world to just and only obey the orders of our only God (Allah) . please think about my suggestion . wish you a happy day !

Hi Mr Solomon Buyco
i believe that Jesus is a prophet why what make me believe that that Jesus is Allah
as you believe
Jesus was born , eating and died
this person cann't be Allah

Hello Saad, Thanks so much for your input. I respectfully submit I don't believe in any of the religious writings you're referring to as fact. It's fine if you want to believe and it's fine if I don't. I've done lots of reading and research and the facts don't add up, at least not me and I truly don't feel I'm missing out on anything.

@Ron - the myth of Horus (which was thought to be absolutely FACT and true in that time) actually DOES pre-date the story/myth of Jesus by 3,000 verifiable years.
I can't change the fact that Jesus can't be verified outside the Bible.
If you can show me how the Devil may have planted this to fool us all, I'd like to see that as it's a very interesting angle.

@Sohail - I'm intrigued. What part of simply stating verifiable facts is "sick"?
A feeling is not a verifiable fact my friend.
I don't believe in "Satan", I do believe humans have proven they have the capacity to be greatly evil, especially when standing behind the mask of righteous religion.

@Sohail - I'm glad you're "experiencing Jesus" and apparently it's working for you but chill out on judging people that don't want to be like you. You like Jesus and I like science.

@Sohail - that's a very interesting opinion. I became an atheist because I think too much? In fact, I like that!

@Douglas - Good morning my favorite Jamaican! I'm not really clear on what you're asking. Until recent years the technology wasn't there to create sustainable life, now many couples are benefiting from IV pregnancies and of course surrogate mothers carrying babies for other couples - the egg and sperm are grown to zygotic stage to be inserted in the lab and delivered as a full term healthy human baby. So it is still happening. I think most of us enjoy procreation (or practicing) the good old fashioned way - I doubt science will EVER take the place of sex.

Hi Jolynn
who created us ?
were we created by nothing by chance?
or we created our selves?
is there a creator for this world?

I was 10 years age and 2 boys 11 age and 13 age with me saw mystery star in heaven and this star changes to Christ cross and give us stream hot and happy tear.....so i never forgot and i know Jesus is true God!
Is true, who believe us only God and we 3 boys know.
I hope u believe me!

@wg - thanks for sharing. It doesn't matter a fig if I believe you or not. I can't say for sure, I wasn't there. But I wholeheartedly believe that you believe what you saw so out of sheer respect I acknowledge your experience. :)

Hi Saad,
I'll answer you as best that I can.
I can't say for certain any more than you can because a "feeling" that God made the universe because a bronze age book tells you so isn't a fact.

However there IS a lot of substantiated evidence that shows evolution and the process of genetic mutation as well natural selection got all life on this planet where it is today.

Truth is, no one knows for sure.
And in this context I mean "knows" as in verifiable, witnessed evidence for 100% certain. But the scientific evidence FOR evolution, mutations and natural selection are pretty big.

I think (and notice this is only MY personal opinion that belongs to me) that a "creator" is a hugely warped thinking. Physics (along with what I have mentioned above) played an enormous role in the earth you live on today.

I don't dismiss anyone else's point of view that thinks God waved a hand and it was so. That's fine too, having a different belief than me is what makes this world great. Just nothing supports that line of thinking except feelings and the writings in the bible.

Visit a good museum and check out the skulls and fossils.
Check out Richard Dawkin's book "The Greatest Show on Earth" it has some very, very hard to dispute evidence for evolution.

OK Jolynn,
I just like to show my point of view
i study genetic mutation and algorithms in the faculty of computer science
i know that this computations reach some good results in some problems but it cann't be the core rules of the universe as it depends on possibilities and it needs pre knowledges
as we see every thing in the universe has a Specific law and rule and the most of sciences have Specific rules if one rule changed all the universe will change and can be damaged
i think it is accebtable for mind that there is a greate creator his kowledge is unlimited and creates every thing in the universe and created its rules and the most of people bieleve in that there is acreator i cann't believe that sience and rules by itself can create computer or car so that i cann't believe that all the universe was created by the sience or genetic mutaion without creator
finally i don't like or want to argue to prove that i am the right so
you are the right 99% if i was right let with 1% it is seriuos so
this 1% possibility suppose that there is a creator and he know evrey thing even what we say within our selves so i want from you try to ask this creator in your self if he was really the creator of the universe to guide you and me with you to the right if there was not creator you won't lost any thing
this link contain some words of The Quraan

thank you Jolynn,

my dear vvg
i cann't believe in relegion because you saw " a star changes to Christ cross and give us stream hot and happy tear"
i think the matter is greater than that please find an other reason for me to believe in "jesus is Allah"
really i am waiting
note that i already believe that jesus is aprophet from Allah
again i am waiting you
thank you dear

@Saad - Thank you so much for sharing your point of view. I'm not here to "convert" anyone - just stating my point of view and anyone that reads my blog posts is more than welcome to state theirs back, just like you have done.

In the end there is no way to know for sure, I wasn't there at the beginning and neither were you. I like the path of physics which makes sense to me and you like the thought of a creator which makes sense to you. See that's the beautiful thing, we don't have to agree to discuss - good points come from both sides.

Thank you for the link to the video and I will ask this creator to but I won't ask to guide you because it is rude to assume you need guiding. :)

one misconception is that jesus was born on dec. 25th. no where in the bible does it state his bday it cant no calender also depends where they were coming from and how quick or slow someone can walk its a date we humans made up if im correct most people believe it would be summer no mention of boots or now. when deciples also got to him he wasnt just born so cant tell when his bday is. they were told would see a star which is the north star when the savior was born which they were to follow. again i believe when you find god or your higher power you'll know to all people i love your blogs i learn new points of views rather they work for me or not but i learn something bad or good i love most of the people are expressing their opiom with respect but i know their are a few that cant

@Melissa - it's true and in most of the cases listed above - purely astrological. The most loudly touted theory I've heard is that the Christian's celebrated December 25th as the birthday of Christ to overtake the Pagan sabbat of Yule.

According to this theory, early Christians deliberately chose these dates to encourage the spread of Christmas and Christianity throughout the Roman world: If Christmas looked like a pagan holiday, more pagans would be open to both the holiday and the God whose birth it celebrated. However none of the writings that speak of this were created until over 300 years after Jesus. There are a lot of similarities between Christmas and Yule that lend one to go, "Hmmmm"...

And you have to admit, the stories of Horus the Egyptian God and Jesus are pretty glaringly similar.

JoLnn, JoLynn, JoLynn, Again you make me open up my mind, heart and soul. You are such an amazing person. Wish we could meet and have a cup of tea together and talk about life. First let me say that the Catholic Church was were Christmas and Easter came from. Also All Saint's Day right after Halloween. It is true these were all pagan holidays first but the Church gave them a "Christian" reason for the season. A lot of history comes from the Catholic Church. I am going to do my research and come to my own conclusion. But I find it sad not to have any Spiritual connection. I am not talking about religion, just that deeper internal Spiritual connection. Thank you for the thought provoking blog. Have a great day.

Hello Pat! Meet and tea sounds super fun!
I have a huge number of Pagan friends, in fact my partner is a long time Wiccan (20+ yrs) complete with coven. I think revering the earth is a beautiful sentiment but for myself I like physics.
My absolute BFF of 3 decades is a self professed Jesus freak and have never agreed on one thing religious-wise, yet - we've never argued either.

I love all the diverse opinions in my world and here at FanBox. It's awesome to see where everyone is coming from and the cool thing is we learn how we are alike instead of concentrating on differences.

Energy is a spiritual connection for me and we are all energy. I don't think there's any big mojo running the show - cause and effect are finite elements.

So what kind of tea do you like?
I'm an organic green tea (yeah, I know tannins) or Roobios and Honeybush myself.

Our sin separates us from God. God is perfect, holy and loving, and has provided a way for salvation. In contrast, a man in darkness represents man in his sin, separated from God. Sin is more than wrong thoughts or actions, but a heart that is inclined toward evil (Jeremiah 17:9). The Bible says, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Apart from God's grace, man is without hope.

Debt paid in full. Jesus paid the debt for our sin. The cross is a picture of God's grace. God sent His own Son, Jesus, to earth as a man. Jesus died on the cross for us, "so that He might take away our sins" (1 John 3:5). The Bible says, "God demonstrates His own love for us in this while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). Jesus took away our sin in His own body on the cross so that He could bring us to God. (see 1 Peter 2:24; 3:18) The Bible says, "God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believe in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16)). There is nothing we can do on our own to pay the penalty for our sin. If we could, then God would not have to sent His Son to die for us. Only the blood of Jesus can wash away our sin!

Jesus is risen! After Jesus died, men buried Him in a tomb sealed with a huge stone and guarded by soldiers. Three days later God raised Jesus from the dead, declaring that He truly is the Son of God and that God was satisfied with His payment for our sin. Jesus then appeared to many people before returning to His Father in heaven.

Jesus is the way! The only way we can come to God is through faith in Jesus Christ. Only Jesus has paid the penalty God demands for our sin. Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No comes to the Father [God] except through Me" (John 14:6). But just knowing these facts does not ensure salvation. We must respond to God's grace by trusting in Jesus Christ alone as the only One who can forgive our sin and give us God's gift of eternal life.

Trust only in Jesus! The penalty for sin is eternal separation from God, but Jesus offers you the free gift of eternal life with God! We need to accept this gift God offers! The way we show/demonstrate our faith in Jesus Christ is by trusting in Him alone for complete payment of our sin. The Bible says that our sin is removed "through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe" (Romans 3:22). Are you trusting in Jesus for your salvation??

You can!! The Bible says, "If you confess with your mouth 'Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9). If you are trusting in Christ for your salvation, tell God by praying something like this: Dear God, Thank you for loving me. I confess that I have sinned against You. I believe that your Son, Jesus, died on a Roman cross to pay for my sin and that You raised Him from the dead. I trust Jesus alone to forgive me and take away all my sins. I confess that Jesus is my Lord and Savior. Thank you for Your gift of eternal life! I pray this in Jesus' name. Amen. Remember, it is not that the words of a prayer that save you. God saves you when you respond in faith to His grace.

Remember, it is not the words of a prayer that save you. God saves you when you respond in faith to His grace. If you trusted in Christ today, Jesus promises you in John 10:27-28, "My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me. I will give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand!" Because you were saved by the precious blood of Christ, you should follow God and learn to please Him. Here are some of His requirements for you to grow spiritually: LOVE God and all people. PRAY to God constantly. STUDY the Bible [God's Word] daily. MEET regularly with other Christians. TELL other people about Jesus.

Remember, it is not the words of a prayer that save you. God saves you when you respond in faith to His grace.

Yes, I do know and understand fully what it means. I am sorry that you do not like my method of trying to spread the Good News of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. So all I can do is just pray for you, to come to know the truth of all it all.

Salaam (Hello) ....,

Do you know why Islam is so scarcely to me? So here is a quick list why:

1. Did you know the moon-god was called "Sin" in ancient Babylon. In Arabia the moon god was called "Al-llah". Later they shortened this to the present day "Allah". The moon god was the center of pagan worship and ruled over the 360 idol gods in Mecca's Kaaba. Three of these other gods were Allah's daughters: al-Uzza, al-Lat, and Manah. (Will Durant, The Story of Civilization, IV:160-161). Moreover the Encyclopedia Britannica's section on "Pre-Islamic" says, "'Allah' was the moon god, the consort of the sun goddess, and father of a number of female deities, al-Lat, al-Uzza, and Manat, whose worship forms a principle feature of the religion of Muhammad's home town of Mecca. Muhammad's father was named Abd-Allah, and his uncle Obied-Allah. The Allah idol was kept in the Kabah temple in Mecca so that it was therefore in that direction the idolaters prayed, and its symbol was the crescent moon. These practices are still part of Allah worship today". Will Durant, the great historian, said Allah was an idol god worshipped by Arabs long before there was an Islamic religion: "Within the Kaaba, in pre-Moslem days, were several idols representing gods. One was called Allah ... three others were Allah's daughters, al-Uzza, al-Lat, and Manah. ..."

2. "When the first copy of the Koran was written out and presented to [the khalif] Othman Ibn Affan, he said: There are faults of language in it, and let the Arabs of the desert rectify them with their tongues" (Biographical Dictionary, Ibn Khallikan, p. 401). After Muhammad's death the Koran had to be put together from fragmentary remains and conflicting memory. This was done by the Caliph Uthman who chose what would be go into the Koran. He ordered all other versions of the Koran to be burned on threats of death. (Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 6, #510, p. 479: Ulum, p.52f). The Shiites, a large segment of Islam, claims Uthman left out a fourth of the text for political reasons (McClintock and Strong, Cyclopedia, V: 152).

3. Did you know that Muhammad said some of the Koran was given to him by Satan?? ["Sura" is the word for "Chapter" in the Koran]. Sura 53:19-23 of the Koran says, "Do you see Al-Lat and Al-Ozza, And Manat the third idol besides? What? shall ye have male progeny and God female? This were indeed an unfair partition! These are mere names: ye and your fathers named them thus: God hath not sent down any warranty in their regard." When Muhammad was asked why he taught these three moon goddesses without complaint, he said the devil had confessed him and called these the "Satanic Verses".

4. Did you know that lying is not evil when it is an advantage to Islam? Sura 24:11 of the The Koran says, "Of a truth, they who advanced that lie were a large number of you; but regard it not as an evil to you. No, it is an advantage to you." This is why Muslims will stand up and tell you "Islam mean peace,' when it actually means "surrender". They are assured it is not evil to say the Koran is against war and killing. Otherwise why would Sura 47:4 of the Koran says, "When ye encounter the infidels (unbelievers), strike off their heads till ye have made a great slaughter among them, and of the rest make fast the fetters." and Sura 9:123 of the Koran says, "Believers! wage war against such of the infidels as are your neighbors, and let them find you rigorous."

(Cont'd from last above message)

5. The Koran contradiction itself. Here are two examples, eventho there are many others examples:
(a) For example, it has six contradictory accounts of what man was made from. In Sura 3:59, 30:20, and 35:11, it says that Adam was created out of dust. Then in Sura 21:30, it says, "By means of water we gave life to everything", and Sura 25:54 says, "And it is He who hath created man of water". Then in Sura 96:1 it says, "Thy Lord who created, Created man from CLOTS OF BLOOD". Then in Sura 15:26, it says, "We created man of dry clay". Then in Sura 11:61 it says, "He hath raised you up out of the earth". Finally, in Sura 16:4 and 75:37 it says, "Man hath He created from a moist germ".
(b) Furthermore, another example is about Noah's son. In Sura 11:42-43 it says that Noah's son was among the drowned. Then in Sura 21:76 and 37:77 it says that Noah and his whole family was delivered safely from the flood.

6. Yet the biggest reason that I fear Islamic is because according to the Koran what God require for salvation are performing more good deeds than bad and by killing or being killed fighting for Allah. In Sura 7:8-9 and 21:47 it says that Allah saves those whose good deeds outweigh their bad deeds. Then in Sura 4:74 and 47:4-6 it says that fighting for Allah absolutely assures you 100% of Paradise, whether you kill or are killed.

Therefore, I am happy that I have chosen to believe the Bible and ask the Lord who loves us and died for us to forgive me, and become my personal Lord and Savior. Then we can claim this promise: Romans 10:23, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved".

@Rudae - don't you think it's a little presumptuous to assume that I want to be like you? You say Islam is violent - do you and I need to take an honest walk through the Bible? The Bible is a violent, Bronze age book. As you pray for me, I will continue to hope that your mental functions return to normal once you stop praying.

rudea its real rude of you to assume and believe that Islam is wrong im a christian a pentostical assimbily of god christian but our bible since you are a so called christian teaches we have all fallen short of the glory it teaches love peace & acceptance that in new testiment it talks how all religions will be in heaven jesus himself was a jew. were taught that an ear for ear so does that mean go kill all killers? no it doesnt because god teaches that revengences is his that were suppose to forgive and give it to him. if its so violent of a religion shouldnt you be praying for them? i know this wrong but god will deal with me later you want to talk condictions what religion are you? if your catholic please back up where in the bible your suppose to pray to saints confess to a priest a priest cant egt married or where a priest who molested or rapes kids is allowed to be put in another church? is all catholics like that? NO SO WHY DO YOU ASSUME ALL ISLAM BELIEVERS BELIEVE WHAT A FEW DO?

@Saad - Rudea will send you a billion cut -n-paste emails for the asking (or not) I was the glorious recipient of a lot of really misguided emails yesterday.

JoLynn, Don't you find it interesting that Rudae comments about Islam all come from ancient history. It shows me that most Religion's come from our ancient past. Very interesting. Learning more and more each day. I do remember some wonderful encounters with God. I know what I felt. Maybe God just meets us were we are and if we stop we can feel God in all good things. The Bible says All Good Things Come from God. I am still learning and growing. If the words of Jesus helps me become a better person I will use them. If the words from Mohammad will help me become a better person I will use them. If the words from the guy at the gas station will help me become a better person I will use them. ALL GOOD THINGS COME FROM GOD. By the way JoLynn green tea is good for me. :)

@Pat - I'm not beating on Rudae here because he's certainly welcome to feel how he likes. However he sent me no less than 6 cut-n-pastes just dripping with venom towards Islam, which I am not really down with. Pointing out the contradictions in Islam to me was just borderline insanity. I can name dozens of contradictions in the Christian bible. But Rudae, is not only against Islam (boy did he make the clear) also many sects of Christianity have it wrong. He never answered me how the story of Horus mimics Jesus and predates it by 3,000 years. Also compare the Egyptian Book of the Dead to the 10 Commandments - it's fascinating. http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_10cl.htm It gets down to when a civilization dies, so do their Gods. Ancients thought Hercules was real, prayed to him, asked favors of him, told stories about him and taught their children to revere him. Of course, that society has fallen and we have myths. I wonder what our myths will read like in 4,000 more years?Good for you for accepting wisdom from whatever direction it comes. I think that's a beautiful, open-minded sentiment.
