@Smartest - I couldn't agree more. I had a neighbor who was glued to TBN and some tele-evangelist came on and he was talking in tongues and saying, "SOMEONE, SOMEONE can't buy food AND medicine...SOMEONE out there is praying for a miracle and God has told me if you send a seed of faith in to my ministry - you will be able to BUY BOTH".
My desperate, gullible neighbor thought he was talking about HER as she was on a fixed income and was faced with the choice of buying food or all her medications that medicare didn't cover. SHE SENT THIS CLOWN $200 she seriously couldn't spare.
She came over a few weeks later crying at my doorstep asking me to take in her cats because she couldn't afford to feed them on her fixed income and told me everything that happened.
I hope my face didn't betray my sympathetic tone, because I was genuinely sympathetic ot her plight - but geez I was incredulous a grown woman could fall for this charade.
I bought her a gi-normous bag of cat food because her cats were like her children and sent her home with all the things I could spare out of the pantry.
I called a friend of mine that specialized in helping people on fixed incomes get benefits from ALL the social programs she could qualify for.
Turns out her low monthly income let her qualify for a lot and her disability let her qualify for more.
She could afford her medication and her food now- she wasn't livin' large like say, a TBN Prosperity Pimp - but she could eat, have her necessary medications and keep her lights on. I think she just started skipping over TBN as I never heard another word about it.
@Fraulein - I am so with you on this. People need to realize that TBN is nothing but a giant tax free money sucking machine. People who really can't afford to spare it are funding that beast.
