"there's more proof the real Santa Claus (St. Nicholas) existed than there is Jesus actually did outside of the bible." there is in fact a multitude of evidence supporting his existence outside of biblical references i'd be happy to post them if your interested. In addition Christ divided time, no one else in any religion or in history can say that.

want to take the time to say to everyone do not let the hell fire and brimstone preachers of fear ruin the message of love, the ones who preach punishment & burning eternity do not know how to speak on love all they know is fear.

Good comment TK - I can't find any letters written about the existence of Jesus (meaning active documentation at the same time he supposedly was alive) that haven't been disproven as fraudulent or forgeries (mostly through carbon dating) but someone did point out to me that carbon dating is the devil LOL..... I'd love links to anything you have.

Jesus was and Jesus is. Your acceptance or rejection of the FACT won't change it. Also ignorance and arrogance do not really make cute bed mates. I again humbly suggest that you do a little research before you go posting such ignorant statements.

I don't preach hell, because the bible doesn't...not to the ignorant ones anyway. One day when the glory of God covers the earth like the waters cover the sea then you'll understand. Until then PEACE!!!

PS. If there is no God, why bother to be concerned about being..good???

I've done a lot of research and may I suggest you get your facts outside of the bible and evangelical based literature?

You don't believe God exist, who made you? Of course ur answer is ur parents, but who made ur parents, ur parents parents, ur parents parents parents and so on.... did u know them by name in short can u trce back ur family tree? Jesus have, u can read it from Luke 3:23-38 and Jesus is number 77 starting from God the Father.


I know ur a person that want to see,feel,touch to believe. You have brain of course, but do you see it? Do you feel it? Do you touch it? If not try to open it and touch,see,and feel it but I tell u my dear u will not. Nobody can do it u know what going to happen.

But u can talk,think and ask question from ur brain u dont see it but u believe that it is there inside ur head.

God is good, and u are goodnot doing anything wrong. then God is within u(Ephesians 3:16).

@Jeilmer- Those are good points but I tend to believe science rather than fictional literature. DNA sequencing has unlocked biological history and it is very clear, through hard scientific evidence that evolution and natural selection play a huge role. In the humans and other life forms on Earth today.
DNA has come a LONG way in a very short time, read up on where the technology is at - it's impressive.

Are you aware there are zero writings about Jesus or from Jesus himself during his supposed lifetime outside the bible that haven't been proven as forgeries (mostly written in the Middle Ages)?
Surely Jesus could write.
The Shroud of Turin - forgery.
The Tomb of James, Brother of Jesus-forgery.

Case in point, Pontius Pilate 26–36 CE. He is best known as the judge at Jesus' trial. The Romans created masses of written records. Why was this one event left out of the records of the cases Pontius presided over?
Pontius wrote a lot of letters during his life time, you'd think he'd mention this one event, especially when the defendant rose from the dead after the sentence was carried out - that couldnt' have been an everyday event.

I see the bible as a work of literature, nothing to base my life on. I'm not discounting your opinions, in fact I value them. It's okay if we don't think alike.
I like facts, not feelings. As I said before, I'm open to anyone's point of view, it won't change my views but I am very interested in other people's.

@Boybing , @Leny - absolutely I respect everyone's beliefs. I read a lot, A LOT and I enjoy getting recommended books (besides any version of the bible) and DVD's . I like when people share what they think and how they back it up - it's extremely interesting to me!

I'm eating jalapenos ALL DAY the day before that event goes down and I'm giving the Great Asian a godlike case of heartburn!

Bottom line is you will always find what your looking for, be it sunshine or rain. People may believe there is more evidence for Santa Claus than Jesus Christ I would simply tell them that in their mind Santa is more believable, however in mine its Christ.

@Carol that's EXACTLY why I created this blog - I want people (without bible throwing and wars) to state their opinions. Just because I like science doesn't mean I dismiss anyone else's line of thinking.

Interesting side note - The letters of Pilate which get brought up a lot as proof Jesus existed were found to be forgeries and created in the Middle Ages- interestingly enough - the one case where the defendant got up 3 days after sentence was carried out - didn't make one written record -before or after.!

@Solomon - Good comment. But personally (and this is my opinion which belongs to me) is that I like facts. I don't think it's arrogant or ignorant to not believe a feeling is fact. But I certainly don't discount anyone that does- in fact I find all these points of view very interesting.

I am interested in everyone that comments (or the people who are self conscious about commenting that email me) from the hard core creationists who believe the moon produces light and humans lived with dinosaurs 6,000 years ago to the people who think like I do to everyone in between. I love hearing opinions and why they believe the things they. That aspect of human nature will never cease to fascinate me. And with only a few exceptions - everyone has been civil and kept the fire and brimstone to a bare minimum. Thanks again to you and everyone else for sharing thoughts.

Very interesting reading! Funny, our sermon today was “That You May Believe”. One one side is fact, the other is faith. “Blessed are those who do not need evidence to believe.” To examine what Jesus did should bring us to the faith, but reason only cannot lead us to faith. We are deposed to unbelief. The heart has reasons the mind knows nothing of. Many are led by the heart, not the mind. We need to be led by the Spirit to come to a place of faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Paul became a believer after persecuting the Jews. God can lead anyone….even the most daunting….believe it or not. At least there was a chance to make a decision….in the end, it is an individual’s decision. Great blog Jolynn!

@Douglas - You're right I am not you and I do say that. In my world, Love is love and has nothing to do with any concept of God. I'm good without God. That's fantastic you feel it's a reality and I'm not here to dissuade you from that thought. I just don't feel the same way. Thanks for sharing your point of view.

Hi Sweetie! I have no issues if someone wants to be religious. I just don't want to be included in it and if you want to teach my kids it's a fact that God made the earth and all creatures on it - then we're going to have a problem. Otherwise if someone keeps their religion out of my life - I'm certainly not taking anything away from anyone and we're good. :)

I've known people who claim themselves to be religious people and these same people judge others and don't practice forgiveness. That's not saying much for their religion is it?

I get hate mail from Christians telling me I deserve to die and burn in hell - darn Christian of them isn't it? Smartest Angel told me he wrote a post wanting to proof of one miracle (Smartest correct me if I just paraphrased you wrong) and he got death threats about it. I don't really give a fig about anyone's faith or lack there of - just keep it off my lawn and out of my kid's schools and all is well.
