We recently aquired a new puppy. Her name is Maggie and she is a nine week old Boxer mix. We actually got her when she was only five weeks old, probably not old enough to be taken away from mommy but the people who had her wanted/needed to get rid of the pups, there were six in all.
Maggie at five weeks.
I have to say I was actually against the idea of getting a puppy. I believe unless you can afford to get shots, licensing and pay vet bills you shouldn't have a pet. Not to mention the whole idea of having to housetrain and just all around train a pup was not very appealing to me, having done it so many times in the past. I truly love animals, especially dogs. It is the pain of cleaning up accidents, getting up in the middle of the night to take them out and so on I am not a fan of. Puppies are just like having a baby in the house for the most part, except babies don't poop on the floor..LOL Because Maggie was only five weeks old she truly was like having a baby around. She woke up every couple of hours to eat and go the bathroom for the first few weeks.
Every time in the past when we have had pets it always somehow ends up falling on me to clean up after, feed and take care of the animal. My daughter had been saying for a month or so she wanted a puppy for her birthday, I kept telling her no for the above mentioned reason, plus we do not have a fenced yard. However her dad, who himself has been wanting to get a dog kept insisting we get a pup, you know for Carie's birthday because it is the one thing she really wants. Yeah that is why he wants a puppy, for Carie..LOL
Since I was against the idea I told

Thank you Meri and Tonia for your comments. Maggie now belongs to my son, I had to leave her with him when I moved. I miss her terribly but she actually is more his pup because he spent so much time with her, he became her "pack leader) and I know he is going to take great care of her because he loves her so much. :-)
I had the same situation with my husband about having a puppy in the house and i was against it because of the reasons u had mentioned.
he wants the puppy for our son, and I promised him to have a puppy after I EARN A LOT OF MONEY FROM FANBOX TO BUY A HOUSE WITH A BACK YARD :-)
Nice sharing Cindy
Thank you Koko. You definitely want a back yard if you get a pup. Even though I was totally against getting Maggie I love her so much and I miss her like crazy. But my son took her when I moved so I know she is well loved and cared for.
