Part 5- Putting Up Your Website

Okay kids, this is the big part that will make or break you.

Now is the time you put up a website.

Choosing a Domain Name
I'm not going to go into too huge of a detail on that because it's really easy and very self explanatory

You can either buy a domain or go the free route and use Wordpress as your blog host.

Since the last Google algorithm update, having an exact domain name to your site isn't a hard core rule. Having relevant content IS.
I will tell you it's FAR better to spring $7.99 for a domain name and $40 a year for hosting at a place like Web Host Giant and own your domain than it is to go with a freebie domain because you will have far more latitude for making tweaks and making your blog your own.

For this blog I am going with coffee-roaster-reviews.com.

Need to Register a Domain?
Get a website – it’s easy! I highly recommend http://www.webhostgiant.com with their $4 a month plan hosting plan – you can register unlimited domains for $7.95 each. Also try to use the name of the product or one or two keyword phrases in your domain name. Choose .com, .net or .org names first, I’ve personally never had .info domain names indexed with the same “oomph” as .com or .net names.

No Money Spent way to have a website (Freebie Option)
If you are starting out and you don’t want to spend any money whatsoever (can’t blame you) – set up a free blog at http://wordpress.com.

This is where I started out and remember everything you do and create there actually belongs to Wordpress and your blog may wind up deleted at some point. It’s not a huge issue and does not happen often, but something you need to keep in the back of your mind. Unless you own the domain - you do NOT own the content.

Also start thinking now if you want to do a presell page where you’re basically a cheerleader extolling the virtues of the product you’re affiliating with to the person tapping their credit card on the computer screen ready to buy OR would you prefer to do a review/informational page where you compare the main product you’re trying to sell to one or more other products?

Both ways have pros and cons.

Pros: A Presell Page – is great for really revving up someone to want to purchase a product.

Cons: The downside is you will usually only have one product on the page so you will only be making one sale at most through the page. Unless you have a lot of unique content around the product - you seriously run the risk of getting labeled as a thin affiliate site or "bridge page" by Google. This will in effect make your site invisible and it won't be considered relevant by the search engines.

A Review Page is another great way to promote a product.

Pros: You can pit your chosen affiliate product against a couple of others. The idea here is not to trash any other product but write an honest review of what you found to be the strong points.

A great example I can give you is my partner’s “Don’t Be a Fat Bride” blog that was a review page for “Fat Loss for Idiots”

You got an interesting blog JoLynn I think you're the right one I can ask about creating own website... I had tried it once before, just a shoret time bases but I don't have much time searching how it works really... It was a 3o days trial and I used .com. Q is .com, .no and .net is it what we call domain? how about 'webhosting' ? I don't really get use of the terms in english...

@Katherine - I'll be happy to answer any questions you have. Webhosting is simply the company that hosts where your website is. You buy a domain name (whatever.com, whatever.net....) and then you need some place to put that domain name you bought. That's why you need web hosting. So people can come to a website. If you want to start out for free (besides here at FanBox of course) check out Wordpress.com and get a free blog.

Do you know any website that give free space up to 1 GB

I don't know if they are still around but you can google 000webhost they used to give 1500mb of space plus 100 gig of bandwidth absolutely free. For $4 a month you could go unlimited. Everywhere else I can think of has either been bought by GoDaddy (which is awful place to host websites) or just out of business because you don't have a successful company giving stuff away.

Thanks JoLynn, I'll try it once again but maybe you will get more Q from me someday if it's ok

Wow, sounds like you are so knowledgeable in this area. I think this all might be too complicated for me though, but you certainly put together an excellent blog of information here. I'm sure it will be helpful to all who read it who have a need for this kind of information.
