* Arlene * helps shelters for abused women and children.

Steve Tasker, 43, hoarded the "staggering" collection at his home. for up to three and a half years at his house and kept almost 16,000 mail items in or behind his garden shed.

Tasker also wrapped the letters in plastic Farm Foods carrier bags to try and keep them dry because he claimed he would deliver them once he had sobered up.

Sad when people let alcohol take over their life. Everyone around suffers and in this case the whole town.

@ Jaky: I agree...alcohol can drive people to do stupid things, but stealing people's mail and money should be a big offense...what this man did was so wrong

@ Tony: Yes, this guy really did steal mail. Apparently he was caught and sent to jail...

My mother used to work for the post office and they showed them videos of people taking the mail and throwing it out the window and everything else they had them sign papers and let them know all the repercussions its sad that he is getting away with all of this just because his family needs him so much, he is very lucky they need him as much as they do.

Sometimes I wonder if my postman isn't keeping mail from me, when im waiting for something it takes an eternity to arrive, but when im expecting nothing and sleeping he's beating down the door for a signature like the house in on fire lolz

@ Jenny: So they caught this guy and let him go? Yeah...he definitely got off scott-free...that's a total shame...

@ TK: LOL. That's sometimes the case. I've been faced with instances where I sent out checks to pay some bills and coincidentally some of those checks were never received by their intended recipient. I wonder sometimes...
