Thanks Arlene for this very nice post. It's good to know how some Hollywood-ers started out in life with their early jobs. It just goes to show that many of us start out with about the same opportunities but few excel from that point into commercial stardom. Good for them. I can recall one of my first jobs was working in a ladies wig and custom jewelry shop. {Reiteration} Yes, a wig shop. But they also sold men's things like watches. I was about 14 to 17 years old and can remember once I was in there by myself and two guys came in rushed to the window display, grab a fake watch and ran off. I ran after them about 50 to 70 yards and had to return back to the store as it was just me. The owner of the store and I sometimes used to travel on the subway across the Hudson river to replenish the store. It was nice to have that experience. Thanks for sharing such good and fun info.
