Peter Grant helps food distribution to the poor.

McDonough, GA - It is frequently said that whenever life is rough with you, it is worse with someone else. I have proven that to be true repeatedly.

I just boarded GRTA's Xpress bus heading for home and sat beside Sharon (not my wife). We normally ride the same bus to work in the mornings, but Sharon catches an earlier bus home in the evenings. Today, her bus is late and I happened to catch it. Sharon started to share how it has "rained" in her life over the past few months.

Interestingly, Sharon initially mentioned how long she had to wait for the bus, but quickly added that it was nothing compared to what had happened earlier this week. Her Dad had surgery on Monday and that forced her to drive to work on Tuesday. Unfortunately, she missed the sign and parked in the short-term parking area. When she got to her car after work, there was a boot on it. A $13 daily parking fee turned into $83!

I quickly interjected that I have had a couple of "bad" days too. On Saturday, we blew the transmission in our minivan and was stuck 200 miles from home. The estimate to rebuild the transmission is $1,400 or more. Added to that, yesterday the tenant called to report a plumbing issue and a broken air conditioning unit. Immediately, I had to call a plumber and the HVAC guy.

Not to be out-done, Sharon added some painful events about their summer.
