New product annoucement: Keep Your Account Safe

My fellow FanBoxers:

I have a very important announcement to make today.

It involves your FanBox account, your money and your FanBox Bank.

About 6 weeks ago, you may remember that I made a post that discussed how many of our FanBoxer friends were getting their accounts taken over by hackers.

Of course that was completely unacceptable for us as a community to sit, watch and witness.

Since then, I have made very few new blog posts. Why?

Where did I disappear to?

We have been feverishly (but quietly) developing and implementing a variety of products and technologies to keep your account safe.

Many of the new features & technologies are already live and are protecting your accounts in ways that I cannot discuss publicly here. (You may or may not have already noticed some of them).

However, I'm prepared to share with you some exciting news that I am sure you'll enjoy:

A new product launch will soon protect you in ways that were never before possible.

Soon you will notice something new at the top right of your homepage, called your Profile Completeness:

One of the important steps to achieving 100% Profile Completeness, is to Keep Your Account Safe.

The first step of Keep Your Account Safe is to Add your Mobile Number.

By adding your mobile number, you can rest assured that if any large purchases or cash outs are made from your account, you will be notified via text message (SMS) on your mobile phone.

Adding your mobile number gives you peace of mind: If a hacker ever takes over your account, they won't get very far!

Also, if you forget your password, you can use your mobile phone to reset your password and sign back in.

The next step of Keep Your Account Safe is to Create Your FanBox Bank:

In this step, you are validating your identity.

You can use your credit card to validate your identity and, soon, you'll also be able to do that using your PayPal or Amazon account.

This step helps the FanBox algorithms decide which accounts are real, and which accounts are duplicates, suspect or bots (computer generated).

By completing this step, you are letting FanBox know that you are a real person - and so you will be receiving account protection in a couple additional ways:

1) If you have completed this step, the FanBox algorithms or staff will never delete your account without contacting you.

(In the past, accounts suspected of fraud were deleted by the FanBox algorithms without notice - so this is an important step to complete, because it communicates to FanBox that you are indeed a real person, and so FanBox will take extra caution with your account).

2) When your FanBox account balance goes below $2 USD due to your purchases, you can have money transferred automatically from your credit card, PayPal or Amazon to your FanBox account - to bring it back up to $2.

This is a free service from FanBox, and every time a transfer like that happens, it communicates to the FanBox algorithms that another financial institution (such as your credit card, bank, PayPal or Amazon) continues to support you and provide you an active account.

I cannot stress enough how important this step is - because it tells the FanBox system that other, larger organizations trust you -- and you have completed the necessary steps with them to earn that trust.

The next step is answering your Security Question.

By completing this step, you are giving FanBox the answer to a question that only you should know.

This is important because it helps us identify you as the owner of your account when you write to us for help.

It also makes it so that only you can reactivate your account, if you ever have any challenges getting into your account.

These 3 steps will protect you in ways never before possible!
 

Question: Is it required (mandatory) that everyone complete these 3 steps?

Answer: No. It is not mandatory.

However, new FanBox users (that sign up today or after today) will NOT be able to purchase things or cash out until these steps are complete. (This will bring a whole new level of security to the FanBox community).

Old users (those of you that have been around): If you do not complete these steps, you will still be able to cash out and buy things - but why risk not protecting your account?

As soon as these new features are live, hurry and achieve 100% Profile Completeness and protect yourself.
