Hare shrinivasa, Please see my observations below, 1. For entry level people, all that what you told is really correct. 2. Also, one should take care of teaching tatva to deserved non-Kannadiga’s(KANNADA LANGUAGE SPEAKERS) – I mean concepts of hari dasa sahitya or whatever. 3. But what do you think for a person who has already Spent say 5years or 10years in school of tatva vada? Hari dasa sahitya should be included as vital curriculum right? 4. It’s very famous fact that hari dasa sahitya act like teeka/tippani’s to vyasa sahitya and also vice versa is true in many cases.
So With above points à Perfect principles are best understood when one knows Kannada language.
Perfectness is not the term which is used for beginners. For anyone who want to know more and is very keen à Even if he is Bengali or Gujrathi – he will immediately dive in ocean of hari dasa sahitya or Kannada madhwa shastra sahitya And will fine tune his understanding.
For a person having higher goal of knowing tatva, learning language is negligible topic to discuss. Only for a person who is not serious about goal will spend more time on debating about platform.
Always, bhava will be clearly understood and one can taste more sweet only when Language is directly known.
I may read tatva viveka – kannada anuvada – I may get partial understanding, punya and enjoyment etc…
Same is true for haridasa sahitya.
And many haridasaru (SAINTS) though they have travelled in Maharastra or A.P Or TN (STATES) – they still have composed songs in Kannada. As kannada (LANGUAGE) is very rich as very near to Sanskrit and also if they have selected.. There will be higher base to it.
So learning is matter of 2-3 weeks and slowly anyone can pick up and attain grip in say 5-6 months (based on interest and seriousness)
But without Kannada à using spectacle of translations sometimes may be unsafe.
By knowing English, can a child understand Molecular Biology even though there are tons of books in English on that subject? Otherway round, can Nyaya,Veda Vidwan,Vedanta Bhaskara understand HKAS without knowing kannada even when he has mastered 1000’s of Sanskrit books????
Immature child knowing English is same as matured soul in madhwa field and still without knowledge of Kannada. Both are incomplete.
Why I am stressing on Kannada?? Kannada is the platform used by many many ap-jNani’s and anyone not knowing kannada will lose major portion of madhwa shastra. And never Shastra pAta can be concluded as complete without learning hari dasa sahitya.
Even Non-Kannadiga’s face issues on their way:- Eg: - I got Khadri Sthala Purana in Telugu recently. I am now learning small bits of telugu language and trying to read shloka by shloka. So learning language is also part of hari seve is what I feel.
However, compared to other language Kannada has lion’s share in ap-Jnani’s contributions. Acharya (SRI MADHVARAYARU) and his commentators used Sanskrit. Please let us not restrict him to any linguistic barrier. |
