Have you ever felt nervous and light-headed all of the sudden? Have you felt your heart race and struggled to bring in enough air to your lungs, wondering what was happening?
That's how I felt at basketball practice one year, about halfway through the season. Feeling those symptoms made me even more nervous. What was wrong with me? Was I having a heart attack or something?
Anxiety And Panic Show Up
I was working as an assistant basketball coach, and I started to feel like I was having some serious health issues. I had a lot of stressful things happening in my life at the time. However, I didn't identify them as stressful. In my mind, I was a tough athlete. I had played collegiate sports and was disciplined and capable.
I thought I could handle anything as long as I put my mind to it. I even thought that because I knew God, that He would help me accomplish anything.
